Job Description
Our Associate Merchandise Planner roles are commercial, analytical roles that directly influence our customer experience and business profitability through smarter planning and better stock outcomes. You’ll be accountable for a small merchandise planning portfolio (we have positions across our product divisions – Home, Apparel, Leisure, Grocery etc.) and help deliver sales, margin, availability and inventory targets. You’ll work closely with Buyers, Supply Chain, Allocation and Finance to turn data into practical actions that keep products flowing to customers (and seeing how that impacts on business goals and profitability!).
Reporting to our Senior Merchandise Planner and working alongside a highly commercial team, the learning opportunities and insight into the world of retail will be unmatched!
What you’ll do
- Build and maintain demand forecasts and supply plans within Open-to-Buy (OTB) budgets.
- Manage replenishment, intake and stock flow for your portfolio.
- Analyse weekly trading performance and recommend reorders, markdowns or intake changes.
- Balance availability, stock turn, weeks of cover and excess-stock risk.
- Use trends, promotions and seasonality to improve planning assumptions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and manage risks.
Qualifications
Your work with data where its impact is beyond a report/spreadsheet! Retail is dynamic - solving problems, turning insights into action and seeing real business world impacts will be all in a day’s work! You're naturally curious, commercially minded, and keen to learn how products move from supplier to shelf while helping create great customer experiences and business outcomes!
You'll bring:
- A tertiary qualification and/or 1-2 years' experience in retail, planning, analytics, supply chain, buying, finance, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with confidence working with data and Excel.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships across teams.
- Strong organisation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- A genuine interest in retail, customer trends, and commercial decision-making.
- Retail is fast-paced, data-driven and exciting – you’ll thrive working in that environment!
