Job Description

Our QA team oversees quality on every private label/home brand product to hit our shelves. To complement the team, we’re looking for our next Quality Specialist (Product Technologist) – to work across our Home category products including furniture, homewares and sporting to name a few. You’ll work with Buying, Sourcing, and Design to ensure our products meet clear specs, comply with NZ safety standards, and exceed customer expectations in quality and value that our customers know they get when they shop with us. You'll champion quality, safety, and compliance throughout the product lifecycle. Key responsibilities inc.:


  • Conduct product assessments to confirm function and reliability, identify risk and opportunities for improvement, prepare accurate evaluation reports.
  • Ensure we have clear and accurate specifications on our products based on the brief from Design, Buying and Sourcing teams
  • Ensure that the product spec meets all applicable NZ and company laws and standards, goods are safe for our customers and specs are easily understood by our overseas sourcing teams and factories
  • Be part of QA approval processes that may be done offshore or in NZ for high-risk products.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate quality considerations throughout the product lifecycle, from design to delivery.
  • Analyse quality performance data and customer feedback to drive continuous improvement, improve on QA strategy and performance and assist on investigations on high customer returns and implement preventive measures.


Note: This role splits time between our head office in Northcote and Quality Assessment Centre in Wiri, South Auckland.

Qualifications

The world of retail is fun, fast-paced and will offer lots of variety! Safety and quality is paramount - You’ll have impeccable attention to detail, strong prioritisation skills and ability to keep organised to meet key critical paths and uphold the high-quality standards for our customers and product ranges. You’ll demonstrate a strong technical and mechanical mindset, with the ability to evaluate product construction, assembly methods, structural integrity, and potential risks. Self-driven and highly collaborative in your approach, you’ll work closely with stakeholders (buyers, suppliers, offshore sourcing) to support the quality part of our buying process.


Also on our wish list:


  • Proven experience working with QA/QC teams and evaluating product quality
  • Strong technical understanding of furniture, homewares and sporting categories is highly advantageous!
  • Strong background in hard goods manufacturing and or quality management
  • Strong understanding of NZ law in relation to product compliance
  • Critical thinking and effective communication skills
