Interview Tips & Tricks

Interviews are very much a 2 way street. It's an opportunity for us here at TWG to verify your skillset, values and team fit. Equally it is an opportunity for you as a candidate to evaluate whether this opportunity at TWG at aligns with your values and fits with your career ambitions. 

Here you'll find some helpful interview preparation tips to ease those interview nerves.

BEFORE YOUR INTERVIEW:

  • GET TO KNOW US
    Learn as much as you can about TWG and impress us on your knowledge. It will show in the interview Check out our company website here, social channels and latest media releases

  • LAST MINUTE CHECKS
    Re-read your CV, position description (PD) and job advert just before the interview. A PD can give a good flavour as to what the role will involve and the key skills & competencies needed for the role  

  • BE PREPARED
    Prepare meaningful questions to ask. Intelligent well thought out questions can impress your interviewers

  • PLAN AHEAD
    Double check where your interview is taking place so you can arrive on time. Try to arrive 5/10 minutes before your interview. Also find out who you are meeting (look them up on LinkedIn to know their backgrounds)

  • DRESS APPROPRIATELY
    You want to look the part! When it comes to your interview outfit, its always best to overdress than under dress. If you are not sure what to wear, ask the recruiter/hiring manager

DURING YOUR INTERVIEW:

  • TAKE A DEEP BREATH
    Remember nerves are normal and shows you are keen. It just comes down to being able to channel the nerves correctly and in the right way

  • FIRST IMPRESSIONS
    First impressions count! Greet interviewer with a relaxed smile, eye contact and a warm handshake

  • BODY LANGUAGE
    Its not just what you say that is important. How you express yourself through your body language also matters. Make sure you are fully engaged

  • BE READY
    Prepare for common interview questions with ready examples - use the STAR method to answer

  • BE A GOOD LISTENER
    Listen carefully to the questions being asked

  • STAY POSITIVE
    Its important to remain positive throughout the interview. Show energy and passion. Never bad mouth an employer or manager

  • BE YOURSELF
    We want you to feel comfortable and relaxed. Try to relax and enjoy the interview as much as you can

  • BE CONCISE
    Don't waffle, remember to stay on point. Speak clearly and confidently

EXTRA TIPS FOR VIRTUAL INTERVIEWS:

  • TECH
    Ensure your technology is all set up. It's a good idea to test your technology before your interview to ensure that its working correctly and that you are comfortable with the platform beforehand

  • ENVIRONMENT
    Ensure there are no distractions around and that your background is tidy and clutter free

  • DRESS APPROPRIATELY
    Its important to dress for a virtual interview as you would for an in-person interview. If you're in doubt about the dress code, opt for smart
