The Warehouse Group has supported the AUT Co-operative Education programme since 2010, hosting more than 150 students. We’re the second largest AUT Co-Op partner in New Zealand, and we’re passionate about giving students a taste of what it’s like to be part of an iconic Kiwi business.
Here’s why our interns love working with us:
Big names, big opportunities
We have some of New Zealand’s most iconic retail brands: The Warehouse, Warehouse Stationery, Noel Leeming and Torpedo7. For us, retail isn’t just a job, it’s a career that can take you places. We do everything we can to support our teams across our brands to build successful careers, and we’re actively working to change the way people think about working in retail.
A range of roles
You can go for an internship in a number of areas, to build on the skills you got while you studied. We have roles in Marketing, Finance, Customer Insights and People Support (HR), Merchandise Buying and Store Operations. You’ll get to do real work that adds value to the business, and see your knowledge and skills put to good use. Because we’re a big business with lots of brands, you’ll also get lots of career opportunities.
Real life experience
Placements are based at TWG Store Support Office in Northcote, where we have over 1,200 people, four brands, an onsite cafe and free parking. It gives you a real-life taste of what it’s like to work in a busy, bustling retail environment. Check out our video below to see what working at TWG is like:
We make sure you make the most of your experience – you’ll get a full induction, practical work experience and weekly meetings with your supervisor. You’ll also get to network with other interns and TWG team members, and training to help make it easier to get a permanent role.
We’re really focussed on changing how retail as a career is seen – and the AUT Co-Operative Education Programme helps us do that. We’re a uniquely Kiwi business with a relaxed, down-to-earth, and passionate team. We love working with bright, keen interns who are excited about a potential career in retail. And our interns love working with us.
Here’s what some of our former AUT Co-op students have to say about their internship experiences:
Gabrielle Wymer – Associate Planner
“Some of the most valuable experience I gained during my placement was not just putting theories into practice, but also learning how to interact in the work environment and be part of a team. I found this is a skill that can’t be learnt from a textbook but one which can only be done in practice.”
Will Costello – Marketing Communication Specialist
“The Warehouse gave me an in-depth understanding of how to manage stakeholders and develop my project management skills, and provided me with a level of flexibility that I may not have been able to acquire from a smaller business.”
