Nikita Hughes

    Graphic Designer

As an original member of The Warehouse Design Studio, I’ve been involved since it was established five and a half years ago. In my role as a graphic designer, I specialise in textile design for men’s, women’s and children’s clothing.
I’m doing what I love, and as an artist I get to see my work come to life and be placed in stores. I also love the people I work with, in my team and in the wider business.
It’s been an incredible journey and I’m proud of how far I’ve come since starting at TWL. One of the biggest highlights of my career was receiving the award for Innovation of the Year. Being recognised for this was huge.

    The changing face of retail

The digital age is changing retail in many ways. One is the new and innovative way we purchase things, so TWL’s investing in digital technology is important and exciting. Not only that, but TWL understands the importance of personal and professional development as another way of keeping up with the changes.
That’s why when it comes to professional development, TWL puts so much emphasis on their training programmes – whether they relate specifically to your role or not. They look after you, so you can grow as a team member and as a person.

    Why join us?

TWL is a great place to work – the people here make for a pleasant culture. You get support to develop your skills through in-house courses and outside study, and it’s good to be part of providing New Zealanders with on-trend and high-quality design at affordable prices.
When it comes to a career, one piece of advice I’d give is to constantly survey, observe and research the area you want to specialise in. To be on top of trend and fashion is key – and by doing so on a regular basis, you’ll continue to be inspired by what you find.

I’m doing what I love, and as an artist I get to see my work come to life in stores. I also love the people I work with, in my team and across the business.
