I support Noel Leeming stores, from processing queries to policy and procedure. I’m also involved in trialling new processes in stores, to see what impact they have and what changes we can make. I interact with almost every department on a daily basis, including the Marketing team, Merchandise, People Support, Payroll, and Loss Prevention – as well as the retail network.
I really enjoy helping people solve their problems, and working on more efficient ways to get processes done. The number of training courses I’ve been on has been tremendous, and I was thrilled to be part of the retail leadership program. It exposed me to all the different departments within The Warehouse Group, and I learned more about how international brands are doing retail. Learning, and applying my learnings back to us here, was great.
I’ve worked in retail for 23 years, 19.5 years at The Warehouse Group (TWG). I started as a delivery and installation team member at Noel Leeming in Napier. After moving around over the years, I was offered a role in the Operations team, and I’m still there. We were nominated for Retailer of the Year at the Wares Awards, winning Top Shop within our region two years running – that was a buzz!

In retail there is a consistent, rapid change happening, and it’s great to see how at Noel Leeming, we can move and adapt at such a fast pace. With technology dictating more and more the way people shop, no two days are the same.
That’s why there’s an absolute requirement to keep thinking outside the box and moving with the times, because that’s what our customers need. We realise we need to position ourselves, to put ourselves in the customers’ shoes and think what’s best to do by them. It’s good to see that not only Noel Leeming, but the whole of the TWG is responding to the changes.
